We are starting to normalize global warming. And while it's becoming a
commonplace, things are getting worse. Behind this neutral wording are
tragedies and horrifying disasters, that we have caused. It's time to fix it.
Let's start with giving this phenomenon a name that it truly deserves.

organizations focused on climate policy, environmental research, and
sustainability (EEA,

and others).
October 2024, Valencia, Spain
DANA (Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos) storm led to a tragic
death toll of 92 lives.
This makes it one of the deadliest incidents of its kind in
recent history.
The catastrophic flooding overwhelmed local infrastructure, with
many people trapped in their homes, vehicles, or public spaces.
Summer 2023, Rhodes, Greece
One of the worst wildfires in Greece’s history, fueled by
extreme heat and dry conditions, forced the
evacuation of over 20,000 people, including tourists.
The fires destroyed homes, forests, and wildlife habitats,
highlighting the increasing risk of wildfires due to rising
global temperatures.
2020-2023, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya
The Horn of Africa has experienced its worst drought in four
decades, with five consecutive failed rainy seasons. Millions of
people face extreme hunger, water shortages, and
displacement.
Climate change has intensified the drought, making recovery
increasingly difficult and worsening food insecurity in an
already vulnerable region.
Big waves of climate-related migration
are to be expected in coming years.
